Ms. Desi Rutvikasari joined ABNR as an associate in December 2009. She earned her law degree from the University of Indonesia, majoring in Transnational Law. In 2012 she was awarded a Chevening Scholarship by the UK government to pursue her master’s degree in Maritime Law at Southampton University. She completed her LL.M program with Merit the next year.
Ms. Desi’s main areas of practice encompass commercial dispute resolution—both litigation and arbitration—in the field of maritime law, construction, oil and gas services, mining and employment issues. She also represents clients in suspension of payment obligation (Penundaan Kewajiban Pembayaran Utang) and bankruptcy proceedings.
In arbitration, she has represented clients in proceedings under the Rules of Indonesian National Board of Arbitration (BANI), International Chambers of Commerce (ICC) and UNCITRAL Rules, as well as in enforcement of international arbitration awards in Indonesia. She was also part of the team in a high profile construction dispute involving a State-owned company which arose out of a FIDIC contract under the ICC Rules.
In maritime law, she is largely involved in matters of cargo claims, marine insurance, collision, salvage, seafarer agreement, charter parties and maritime lien—both contentious and non-contentious.
Occasionally, she represents clients in commercial and shipping related criminal proceedings.
